The Seven Grandfather Teachings below were shared with me by my family and my Elders. I continue to learn new ways to connect with each of the Seven Grandfather Teachings.

Originally the animals were the beings who taught us Teachings of Love, Courage, Respect, Honestly, Humility, Truth and Wisdom. Depending on what part of Turtle Island (North America) you are from, the different animals may represent different Teachings. In my own family we best connect the Mouse as the great teacher of Humility but many people connect the Wolf as the teacher of Humility.

There are many different descriptions of the Seven Grandfather Teachings and all are correct. It all depends on the person sharing, reading or listening to the Teaching and how each person connects to the Teaching personally.

An example of this would be:
I have heard some Elders describe the Seven Grandfather as the Seven Grandmothers. I personally describe the Teachings as the Seven GrandFathers because this is how I was taught.
